Giveaway!~Parisienne Petals~a la parisienne's new romantic brooches~

For all of my loyal friends out there, I wanted to share with you some exciting news. A couple of weeks ago, I added a new product to my Etsy store~Parisienne Petals~romantic brooches that have a vintage appeal. As a "grand launching" of this product and a thank you, I want to give one of these brooches to one lucky winner. Winner's choice!

A little bit about my hand-made flowers:
*Each brooch is made of luxurious fabrics-silks, velvets, brocades, taffetas
*All petals are hand-cut by me
(These aren't craft store flowers with a pin glued to the back.)
*The design of these brooches are one of a kind- I created the template for the petals and I select the fabrics.
*Edges of petals are treated to prevent fraying.
*I love using authentic vintage pearls, beads, jewelry and ribbons for the centers of my brooches.
~Le Petit Trianon Brooch~

This flower is my Marie Antoinette inspired brooch. I drew these colors from the gorgeous robin's egg walls in the Petit Trianon at Versailles and sumptuous dresses worn by the actresses in the film Marie Antoinette.

Although the color palette of this flower might be considered more fitting for the spring and summer months, I would still wear it in the winter...but that's just me.

~vintage vanilla cream brooch~

I hand-dyed the fabric used in this brooch to make it a creamier shade of white.

~La Sorbonne~

A charcoal raw silk brooch, with the appearance of linen is a great color for fall yet light weight enough for spring.

~velvet decadance~

This brooch is one of my very first creations. It is fashioned with layers of dusty rose and burgundy velvet. It is ruffled and so very rich.

~Satine~ Inspired by Moulin Rouge

~A scarlet silk and crinkled velvet brooch~a rich, classic, striking

Fabulous French-Inspired Ribbons~An Etsy Showcase

Sorry I haven't been visiting you lately. These last two weeks have been crazy! I had my highschool reunion this last weekend, which was out of town , and the day after we returned home, my daughter and husband got sick. Ahhh, I am ready for things to slow down...

So my little escape for the moment is to share with you some gorgeous French-inspired ribbons crafted by Rosa, one of my new, very talented blog friends!

Rosa (aka Teacupdesign) is the original designer and creator of these beautiful handmade and hand-stamped muslin ribbons.

These hand-dyed and hand-stamped ribbons are so beautiful and unique. I can imagine using them for adorning a birthday present, tying back curtains, draping several yards around a white Christmas tree...Speaking of Christmas, I would start decorating for Christmas right now if my husband would let me...I'll concede to waiting until October! And if you have very creative friends, I would imagine they would enjoy receiving yards of these pretty ribbons for their own creative journeys.
There are over 100 selections of Rosa's lovely ribbons on Etsy!

Her work will be featured in the Fall/Winter issues of Somerset Life and Romantic Country Magazines. I LOVE Somerset's publications. What an honor, Rosa! Féliciations, mon amie!

Rosa, is an outstanding Etsy seller. She has been selling on Etsy since 2007, and her customers keep her very very busy!

If you love Marie Antoinette, you must visit her Etsy store to see some of her Marie Antoinette-inspired beauties.

Rosa is new to blogging, and I am sure that she would love for you to stop by and pay her a visit. Stop by her blog-frenchcountry1908 to congratulate her!
Bon week-end, mes amis!

Big Announcement

Four months ago when I started my fledgling of a blog, I would have never imagined what was in my future: meeting people from around the world, giving online French lessons, and..................
{I have to preface my announcement with a sidenote:}
When I decided to quit my job as a highschool English and French teacher in order to stay home with our new arrival, I remember feeling quite anxious about our financial situation-two incomes becoming one income-yikes! Of course, ironically, regular people like you and me began to realize the declining economy about two months after I quit my job...go figure! In any case, prosperous or penniless, I desire to stay home with our baby girl.

I NEVER imagined my blog amounting to anything or becoming a success. Well, success is relative after all. I never would have thought that 159 people would have wanted to follow my blog...I would have been thrilled to have 50! I underestimated the blog world and how it would affect me; it's connected me to a huge circle of creative, talented, intellectual people; it's given me a new confidence in my own style; and it's made me use a part of my brain that I didn't know existed---web/blog design. Yeah, who knew!? (My former students would be absolutely shocked!)
