My Parisienne Boudoir

We'll call this the before shot. The bed still needs to be dressed with wonderful vintage and new pillows!

Since I began my blog almost two and a half years ago, I've been waiting to share my parisienne boudoir with you~my friends, my followers, my constant source of inspiration and encouragement.

I guess intimidation has been the major factor in my delay in sharing, along with waiting for a better camera, lens, and tripod. (I used the better camera and lens but no tripod.)

So, welcome to my parisienne boudoir.

A stack of new and vintage books near my dusty pink lamp.
This picture above is a great snapshot of my boudoir's color palette:dusty pink, peachy blush, and tea.

an antique bookshelf from Budapest, Hungary-that's what the dealer at the Canton, TX flea market told us anyway. It was a birthday gift from my sweet husband.
When we {my husband, father-in-law, and I} renovated our home in 2004/2005, I spent hours pouring over magazines and books for inspiration. Although my taste has evolved since then, I would have to say that our bedroom represents my style even better now than it did seven years ago.

a stack of vintage hat boxes in my favorite shade of aged gold

This photograph tells quite a story of my taste:

*I love old botanicals, and the very best ones are expensive and rare.

*I hang most of our pictures in our home from a thin wire from picture moulding.

*Hat boxes are quite parisienne, n'est-ce pas?

*The wall treatment in our room was inspired by Madeleine Castaing's boudoir in Paris, which can be viewed in the book Paris Rooms {pg. 26}

Notice the vertical stripes on the righthand side of the picture. These stripes were fashioned to mimic the dusty pink striped wallpaper in Madeleine Castaing's parisian bedroom.

So far, you've seen 1/2 of our romantique, parisienne bedroom. Of course, it is not complete by any means, and it is always work in progress. For example, I still hope to find the perfect fabric to make gorgeous pillows for the bed.

The other 1/2 of our room is my workspace. One of these days I will share it with you. It still needs a bit of "primping."

Up next, my parisienne salon.

Soft, Ruffled, Ultra-Feminine...Why I Love Elie Saab

As a lover of all things ultra-feminine and romantic, I would have to say that Elie Saab has become a fashion designer that keeps turning up the feminine dial. Yes, I love Dior and Chanel, and their haute couture still inspires me....

But...I just can't help but be allured to

Elie Saab's Spring 2010 Haute Couture line.
It is soft, ruffled, weighless, sexy, and feminine-deluxe.
These dresses in these pale shades of pink are like walking shimmering lip balms and softly powdered cheekbones

Weightless fabrics, soft powdery hues, and detailed flourishes are what make each of these dresses in Elie Saab's Spring 2010 Haute Couture so fresh...so innocent.
The most beautiful overcast shade of gray, I've ever seen.

A pale Tiffany blue gown...

A lilac-gray gown...
These are just a handful of Elie Saab's gorgeous gowns. More to come next week!
I have already begun fashioning some of my brooches in these frothy fabrics and colors and will be adding them to my Etsy shop soon.
For now, I am off to the bi-annual Round Top, TX Antique Fair, where I hope to find more romantic frippery to add to my brooches and to my Etsy shop...Hopefully in this soft, romantic Elie Saab palette!
Love Elie Saab??? Here are a couple of my previous posts over his gorgeous couture!

Blush from Floor to Ceiling

I hope you are all having a fresh start to the spring season! Spring is my favorite time of year because I LOVE flowers, gardening, the mild temperatures, and the COLORS!
This spring I look forward to a soft color palette-blush, pale aqua, beige/nude, crisp white, and, of course, dove gray.
Recently, I was fortunate to find these very gorgeous and feminine images via
I don't normally fill a post with all of my images from the same place, but as I began to put this post together, that's where they all came from. Obviously...because these images are all very glamorous indeed.
If I ever remodel another home or build a new home, I really would like to have an eggshell painted wood floor. I love how the light reflects thoughout this heavenly bathroom. Oh, and the tall french doors...
Why not throw them in, too?!

I seem to gravitate toward silk curtains, especially floor length silk curtains.
The body of the fabric just makes for such beautiful puddling and poofing. It's like dressing your room in a ballgown!
I hope you are all doing well.
I have so many post ideas fluttering around in my mind...Now, I just need to find the time to share them with all of you!
