Do you ever think about what you would do differently if you had the opportunity to redecorate a new space or a new home? Or, more realistically, what design style you would follow if you were able makeover any room in your home? For a short time, my husband and I tossed the idea around of adding an additional room onto our home for a guest/homeschool room.
While that dream room, where I may explore this new design style, may not come into fruition for several years, I have been dreaming up the design:
an artist's loft look
with an all white palette~~white walls, molding, and a glossy white painted floor
clean and crisp
a sophisticated blank canvas to hold Amelia's art, my art, our family's art.

I love the ultra chic look of this room. The pale pink accent wall, the frilly pillows, the mirrored table, and the white tables, chairs and shelving all add an air of romance to this blended design of an urban/industrial loft. Of course, I would have to tweak this design. I don't think I could live with a concrete floor.

Once the school supplies and art were added, I imagine that the colorful additions would draw the eye upon entering the room {as the pink settee and lamp in this image lure the eye and leads it up toward the floral painting}. I think playing with color would offer endless possibilities to making this dream room a creative and chic space.
This all white kitchen has a more casual air, yet something about it reminds me of a European apartment kitchen: oddly shaped, small with soaring ceilings but oh so charming.
While all of our dream spaces may seem so far in the future, it is always enjoyable to dream about their possibilities, to collect images of desirable designs, to share our thoughts...

Oh heavens............I think about it all the time! I ran across a kitchen last week on another blog that had me thinking of starting all over with another look. Our son just finished med school so I am trying to give my husband a break from costly ideas! But i sure like thinking about it, I could easily have 5 houses all with different looks.Thank you for the sweet comment today Mandy, you are my fav! XO and xo

Love the white room with the gypsen ceiling! It's perfect! :) Love your blog :) Regards Grete
It's as if you've been reading my mind.
I love an all-white palette. I've been lightening up our home, little by little. I'm more of an all-white with a splash of color kind of girl, but I want someday to have at least one room without the splash. It would be just as serene as these photos...
I love the ruffly pillows on the two chairs.
I love the idea of white...with a splash of color. I'm not sure I'd like the cleaning. I guess I'll cross the broom when I come to it....because you now have me dreaming in white. :)
awww so relaxing..love white!
Thanks for stoping by!

Hi Mandy, About 18mths ago I renovated our two upstairs bedrooms in all white. We actually put timber lining boards straight over the top of the plaster board that was originally there as it was impractical for children and the room has a loft feel as the ceiling kind of goes to the floor. We ripped up the carpet and I went to wrecking yard and found 2nd hand timber floor boards. After they were laid we painted them white with paving paint which gave them a semi gloss appearance so easy to clean but not ultra shiny. The rooms look fantastic and not unlike some of the images in your post. Cleaning not a problem! One room has my 5 yrold son in it and so far is faring well. We can slap on another coat of paint in a few years. The white backround really makes the linen on his bed and any toys and artwork pop! We can then change the look as he gets older with out too much cost. We kept to a french red, dark navy, camel colour pallete. I love it any way. My teenage daughter is in the other room and she is an artist so the white backround does wonders for her work and bohemian style. More recently we converted an attic space for my other teenager (boy) we did ceiling to floor white in there too as the space is not as big and it has opened it right up. xxx Corrina.
Corrina,
It sounds like you're the pro at all white spaces. I may be contacting you for advice if I ever have the opportunity to do such a thing!
