Dreaming in Winter White

If I had to choose my favorite color to wear during the winter months it would be
winter white.
I just love the latest work by Elie Saab.
Look at these ethereal ensembles!
The dress above makes the model appear to be floating across the runway.
And look at the gorgeous details at the bottom of this empire-waist gown!

Although Saab's fall 2009 couture is simply based dreamy shades of white, the textures of these masterpieces bring depth and interest to each piece.

Chiffon rosettes, pearly sequins, ruffles, whispy furs~

Oh la la, c'est comme un rêve d'hiver!

Si feminin, si divin , si romantique!

As autumn and winter approach, we dream of crisp breezes and cozy winter clothing.

What is your favorite color to wear for autumn or winter?

For me, it is winter white paired with black for a sophisticated look or winter white accented with charcoal gray.

Wishing you a day filled with heavenly moments!

Par hasard, I stumbled across what has to be my favorite Etsy boutique thus far. It is called Bonzie and the two partners of this boutique, Bonzie and Ger, live in Ireland.

Their work is absolutely breath-takingly gorgeous
Romantic layered tulle bridal skirts
Sheer, ruffled boleros
Ruffled scarves
Tanks adorned with ivory flowers
gray velvet jackets...
I'm in fashion heaven!
Now for une petite leçon de français:
What you will learn:
*FASHION vocabulary
*the verb PORTER- to wear

une jupe = a skirt

une jupe en tulle= a tulle skirt

Elle porte = she wears or she is wearing.

Examples

Elle porte une jupe en tulle. = She is wearing a tulle skirt.

La femme porte une belle jupe en tulle. = The woman is wearing a beautiful, tulle skirt.

un col aux volants = a ruffled (flounced) collar

I am not sure what the French would call this "scarf." I would imagine that they would call it a collar.
If you are a French-speaker, please share your label for this beautiful accessory.

un débardeur aubergine =an eggplant (colored) tank top

une veste en velours gris = a gray, velvet jacket

les bottes grises = gray boots

La femme porte les bottes grises. = The woman is wearing gray boots.

Elle ne porte pas les bottes noires. = She is not wearing black boots.

Bonzie et Ger sont vraiment douées. Leurs beaux vêtements de mode d'époque sont populaires et ces propriétaires ont certainement eu beaucoup de succès. N'oubliez pas de visiter leur shop sur Etsy!

Have a beautiful week-end, mes amis!

Take Me to the Isle of Capri

Summer of 2007 my husband and I led a tour to France and Italy. Our tour began in Paris and ended in Capri. Lately I've been reminiscing about our traveling days. Of course, Paris makes many appearences in my mind's eye, but lately Capri has taken the spotlight. Note that the Isle of Capri is made up of two parts- Capri and Anacapri. All images (except for the close up of the water) were taken in Anacapri.

So what is it that makes Capri so memorable?

Perhaps it's the beautiful clear waters of the Bay of Naples

Notice that you can even see the shadow cast upon the sea floor from the yacht in the foreground.

Or getting to experience-even for a couple of hours-the life of the rich and famous

Photo above is from a boat cruise

It could also be the romantic stroll through the Giardini Augusto

Anacapri even smells glorious~the Carthusian Perfumery awaits for your visit...
Fiori di Capri a perfect souvenir of Capri

And, of course, the beautiful Italian architecture is gorgeous

Is it just me or does this image make you think of California?

I remember walking down the narrow pathways through Capri and
feeling tucked away in a glamourous island

And, if you are in fact rich, the shopping will make you swoon!

I can't afford any of the items in this shop, but I would settle for taking the white sofa display when they are ready to decorate for a new season. And is that white leather????

And a quaint off the beaten path ristorante is sure to make your visit absolutely delicious.

If you've never been to Capri, and you have a chance to visit Italy, I would definitely recommend it. My only complaint is that I wasn't there long enough!

Bonne Journée, mes amis!

or shall I say "Buona Giornata!"
